I have a full time job but obviously it doesn't pay enough to cover everything (married with HS kid). Having HS kid is expensive!

My wife has a full time job but good portion of it goes to insurance, retirement, etc unfortunately.

So I looked around for a 2nd part time job to work around my full time job for extra money and applied at big box store for the hell of it. The application process is weird. Nothing like traditional way like I'm used to in the past. A bot was in charge of online application process so I filled out everything a bot tells me to do. I got approval for 30 minutes interview with a live person so I went to that interview just a few days later. We started chatting about stuff, asked me questions, etc. Got offered a job right on the spot at manageable working times (a lot better than I had hoped for) as long as I pass drug test and background check.

Oh yeah, it pays better! lmao
There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

I started learning to study stock charts and developing a trading plan about 18 months ago. I consider that my part time job for now, but if I have a couple of more years where it consistently out performs my normal job, that will probably change.

Cool. Is it a lot of work to get there for so long?

Re: Anyone here with a full time job and a part time job?
I don't need a PT job, I can live comfortably on my 40 hour gig. But, I often entertain the idea of a PT just to help me retire that much sooner.

I really don't know how much more I can participate in this bizarro world we're living in. I'd drop out today if i thought my investments would carry me comfortably to retirement.

Re: Anyone here with a full time job and a part time job?
It’s work in the sense that it takes time, but it’s not really what I’d call work. I enjoy it. On average, I usually spend 30-45 minutes in the evening charting my new levels for the day, 20-30 minutes in the morning going over or market levels, and then I actively trade for 30-90 minutes in the morning depending on my requirements and commitments at work. Working remote and I’m another time zone frees up my mornings for the most part.

The “work” part of it is knowing when not to trade and having the discipline to walk away when it is appropriate without forcing something and giving away money.

Re: Anyone here with a full time job and a part time job?
No part time job yet, but I'm looking for one that aligns with my schedule.

I get tons of offers from recruiters for full time contract work, but nobody seems desperate enough yet to entertain 20 hrs/week on nights and weekends. I don't know why - IT db, dev & testing work can be done pretty much any time, anywhere there's a good internet connection. I need to stay with my FT role for another year or so to hit the right retirement years of service level.

Good luck! It's absolutely a pain in the ass looking for a PT job to fit with FT job in order to get decent boost extra $$$.

High school kid should also get a part time job, just a few hours a week if working for strangers; significantly more if older and able to work for (extended) family and/or close friends of the family learning a trade.

Actually the new job is apparently a stepping stone toward learning a new trade. We’ll see how that turns out in the future.
