diverticulitis? anyone have experience or advice?
Hello GLP. I tried searching threads and there’s not much on this subject.

I am 50 and have started getting bouts of diverticulitis. Isn't aging great?

catinshock

Anyone have personal experience, or perhaps advice about treatments or supplements?

I now know to avoid things like nuts and seeds. Can I still have berries? What things will help? TYIA!

There is a product called Mega-Mucosa that I will swear by. about 45 bucks for a month supply, it heals the lining of the gut. I used to not be able to eat nuts or seeds either now I can have them multiple times a day with no issue. Tastes good ( almost too good when you use a heavy dose). Word of advice, dont mix with carbonated drink or it will foam over the glass.

It's a direct result of excessive carbohydrate consumption (sugar, bread).

Dr Ken Berry on Youtube has done many videos on this.

Since the clot shots have been dealt out, I've heard of many people who are getting this.

Sorry about your condition.

this is what happens when you consume poisoned food. all thanks to rapeseed oil.

all oils eg olive, sunflower etc should not be trusted either, they will be contaminated with rapeseed.

the gut problem is far worse than anyone is realising.

rapeseed will cause multiple gut ulcers and that's just the tip of the iceberg to what it's really doing.

no one will listen, even brief will tell you it's good.

watch out, don't eat the plant oils. avoid everything with it in.

I had 12 inches of my sigmoid colon removed due to diverticulitis. Constipation is the worst thing that can happen. Dehydration also. Stress as well. I have not had a bout of diverticulitis since. I was having severe diverticulitis every several months and flagyl was making me feel worse than the infection. Leaving my husband also helped. Push fluids.

I had it 5 times in 2 years. I quit drinking alcohol and take probiotics daily and have not had it again in 1 year. My doctor told me you in fact CAN eat seeds and nuts. And I do. It is the most painful thing I have ever experienced in my life.

seeds and nuts are the fastest way to tear an inflamed digestive tract.

come on, when it's at it's worst you haven't noticed the correlation between difficulty passing and a tight asshole?

you're being poisoned and it's been happening a long time now.

"Actually, no specific foods are known to trigger diverticulitis attacks. And no special diet has been proved to prevent attacks.

In the past, people with small pouches (diverticula) in the lining of the colon were told to avoid nuts, seeds and popcorn. It was thought that these foods could lodge in diverticula and cause inflammation (diverticulitis). But there's no evidence that these foods cause diverticulitis."

So “praying” isn’t helping, OP?

Where’s your god?

Spend LESS time with your nose in a bible and MORE time learning what GMO foods are and how they destroy your intestinal tract and health.

Cured myself of diverticulitis by going non-GMO.

I ate nuts, seeds and corn at Thanksgiving and it definitely seemed like the cause of the flare up.

My gut has no issues with carbs, like oatmeal, pretzels and toast (white or wheat)

Kombucha helps calm my bad gut but I'm trying to prevent it from happening again. It is very painful indeed.

Thank you for your replies.

I hate the idea of giving up berries. Will raspberry or strawberry seeds be a problem?

You need to shit more and have softer shits.
Drink way more water and reduce food consumption and especially avoid junk food.
Also, excessive sitting can make it worse too.

A gut full of hard constipated gluten-glue shit is a disaster.

Cod liver oil in capsules will help with the constipation and bentonite clay in liquid form will help repair the gut and detoxify your system. One piece of clay the size of a bb has enough molecular surface area to cover a football field. It's easy to get(amazon) and has the consistency of a vanilla milkshake with no flavor.

I drink only water and coffee, even drink ice water throughout the night (hot flashes)

On my feet all day

No fast food

I eat only enough to keep me alive, and only between 4pm_ 8pm.

The exception to all this was Thanksgiving!

I used to chuckle at the stereotype of an old person eating only cottage cheese and oatmeal but it's not so funny anymore

verysad

Eta: I also started taking fiber supplements

Did it to my self making home made rye with loads of carraway seeds.....

Get the flare up under control...

Then..

Start increasing your fiber intake ..

Stay away from white flour and things like caraway seeds ...strawberries..

I halfway followed my own advice and have been okay for a while...

Then again there IS search function on the internet.

Feel better OP...good luck hf

Bull. I've experimented with this in great detail. Peanuts, pistachios, and cashews will definitely flare my diverticulitis. When I avoid those, manage stress, and stay hydrated, it never causes me any issues. Oddly enough, almonds dont bother me at all. Could be the softer flesh of the other 3 vs the almonds, not sure. The other thing that triggered me was homemade sausage, I suspect the fennel seeds were the culprit.

Hey OP... So I was having issues several years ago and didn't know it was divertic...eventually I was having flare ups about every 6 weeks.

I went to a accupuncturist and had three treatments...She also suggested taking this suppliment...

JOU... Digestive Health. Google it for more info.

After accupuncture I haven't had any major flare ups since! Perhaps very mild for a couple of days.

The JOU digestive help capsules really help you have natural bowel movements plus seems to really help with digestion in general.

Also, I have to say... if you are having a major flare up, and the cramps are killing you... Smoke some weed, if your moral compass allows you to do that.

Seriously...within 5 minutes of a few puffs the cramps subside and you can at least relax while you get through it and not suffer for days while the issue takes it course.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
