Raised a boy for 11 years.
Husband caught a guy at the lake trying to drown him. He was young, still had his baby blue eyes. Husband pummeled the animal abuser.

Racoons are great but they do get a bit feisty and nippy after a few minutes of regular play especially when they hit puberty. Their teeth are like a mid-size poodle dog, very sharp but the bite pressure can be almost 60 lbs.

Mine had his own room, you can't let them just run loose.
They are like human kids in their terrible threes and they have thumbs so they can get into everything.

Mine was allowed out to watch tv and be with us in the evening but bedtime was put in his own twin bed in his room.

I loved mine, broke my heart when he passed.
We didn't live in a raccoon owning allowed state so he lived underground, no one ever knew we had him except for our Vet who gave him his annual rabies vax.


They really do belong in the wild though.
In the wild they usually only live to be about 5 yrs old before something happens.
In the wild they usually have an area of 40-60 sq miles they like to travel.

Look at that thing biting the film crew, you can tell the bites hurt, and those guys don't look like pussies either.

Plus Racoons are common carriers of the Rabies virus!
