Around here when the defective streetlights turn purple they get replaced in short order. No big deal.

Yeah we have some in DFW. I always wondered if whoever was buying them thought a higher K rating was better so they bought 8000k lights thinking it was the light output and not knowing it was the color purple. They look dumb and dystopian.

I'm gonna chime in here and state my observations.

Blue light could be to make infrared camera feeds more reliable. Could be light for different sensors to monitor locations. Could be for different night satellite photography or some overhead insight like drones. Could simply be to make seeing drones less apparent.

I live in NC and for the past few years noticed the local personal sites advertising travelling couples that appear more like agents of a larger organization pretending to be couples into anonymous bareback sex.

This problem has been well known for two years now. In my town, they are not replacing them but instead the purple street lights are increasing in numbers. The whole “defective LED” excuse is bullshit.
