They should have a layered air defence systems.

S-400 for long range / ballistic missile defence
BUK for fast Jets at medium range
Pantsir and/or TOR for point defence of highest value assets.

These lash-up drones managed to get through this.

Meanwhile Russia attacks Ukrainian targets, effectively, with 70+ cruise missiles each time they launch a missile strike. 100,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed, 250,000 injured. These are Western estimates.
