HIMARS reportedly being widely intercepted after software update

Reports are that Russians have gotten out the software update for their air defenses to identify HIMARS rockets. This had been predicted as a possibility months ago but the software would take time to develop and implement in the field (air defenses arent exactly hooked up to wireless updates), but looking like that day may have finally come.



The above video is highly educational about what the air defenses actually see. The problem is not really the air defenses capabilities, anti air can certainly take down a HIAMRS, the problem mostly comes down to having seconds to decide what the the thing is and by then its too late.

The HIMARS have a nearly identical signature to an unprogrammed radar as the cheapo Grad rockets. To spend an expensive air defense taking out a grad rocket would be an absolute waste so its a tough choice.
