He isn't contradicting himself. He is doing what a lot of die-hard Covid vaccine supporters need to do which is re-evaluate their stance based on the newest information available.

I only support giving in to the Covid vaccine if your or your children's life hangs in the balance such as is the case for life-saving transplants or other surgeries. So, if that is a hill you are willing to die on, so be it. You will not win when it comes to transplants and such. Dialysis patients could essentially wait it out and see if the Covid shot requirement goes away.
