Quoting: Coastie Patriot Be interesting to see if it's possible to reactivate old coal burning steam plant. In my experience this type of plant quickly deteriorates when left inactive, however carefully it's kept. Just the act of firing up burners, the expansion causes fire-bricks and insulation to crack and crumble. Same goes for pipework valves and process control systems. Even Natural gas, gas jet turbine engines suffer similar problems if not in regular use or not completely stripped, inspected and overhauled. Though, of course, more reliable Natural Gas electric generating sets are not going to be used due to difficulties with gas availability and current LNG market prices |
