Input and output ports being Fiber Optic cable... Digital signal would be converted to a frequency of light and then multiplexed using Frequency Modulation and phase shift keying. Multiple light signals could be sent separated by bandwidth. Throughput speed would be close to the speed of light... The only problem is light diffusion within the crystal. Maybe this could be solved by adding a strong magnetic field that surrounds the crystal storage. Thereby, bending the light inwards and making the light energy follow a circular path inside the crystal. So possibly having a doughnut shaped crystal might work... |

Then - the sound - could be translated back and decoded to find each of the original lengths and reassemble the original data. There is a linear dependence between gas pressure and scattered light - and since the gas pressure affects the sound a black hole makes - each change (data added) could then be traced and pieced back. I am thinking about Rayleigh scattering more specifically. I have no idea if it would work, it was just an interesting thought. |
