Bakersfield is hell on earth. One day in May I looked up and saw mountains only a few miles away that I couldn't see the rest of the year because the air is so polluted. Every weekend some drunk illegal runs a red light and kills some poor soul. Not a fun place to make a home.

And it's three days ride from Bakersfield and I don't know why I came

I guess I came to keep from payin' dues

So instead I've got a bottle and a girl who's just fourteen

And a damn good case of the Mexicali Blues Yeh

I was driving home early Sunday morning through Bakersfield listening to Gospel music on the public radio station. And the preacher said "you know you'll always have the lord by your side." Well, I was so pleased to be informed of this that I ran twenty red lights in his honor. Thank you Jesus. Thank you lord.
