I don't have a JD, but almost ..... as a paralegal I have worked in the legal field all my life, so I have lots of experience and knowledge.
The hospital does NOT have final say over a parent's dependant child. why else do we have health poa's? living wills? So that loved ones can make the decisions on behalf of the one who is unable to.
Just because YOU consider the parents to be obnoxious does not make the child a ward of the state/hospital.

The parents made an unreasonable request with no basis in reality.
