Being trans requires a fair bit of atheism and nihilism by default so it’s not that surprising to me that so many people like this view their lives with so little value.

It's a sad story. But I'm not sure if it was a lack of acceptance, or simply the person had mental issues, which clearly there were.
Letting mentally ill people play out their fantasys has never been the right way to treat the problem. the family has themselves, and themselves only to blame.

Yes & No. Teachers in public schools especially liberal schools are pushing trans onto preteens and teenagers who are just trying to navigate through their normal hormones change, self-esteem, and self worth. They pick students and go after them. How do I know? They tried this with our daughter in 6th & 7th grade. Yanked her from school. Moved to conservative area and saved our daughter. Had lengthy conversations how gender fluid is the better choice over trans. Gave factual information from higher suicides, higher cancer rates, higher costs, and not fitting into society with trans. 2 years into new area, daughter said she’s female and tends to stay that way forever. She just loves shorter hair because her hair is easier to do that way and loves unisex clothes due to comfort. Yet she was singled out due to these choices and mentally and emotionally unstable teachers tried to convert her.

When the other poster said after transition they're still mentally ill, that's right. Transition being chemical and surgical intervention which is not only physically harmful but emotionally. Most who go through it end massively unhappy when they realize their problem is mental and all of the quack intervention doesn't change who they are between the ears.
