Wood burning master race reporting in! To my fellow elites, may I recommend the top-down method of burning. Place two large pieces of wood at the bottom. On top of that, place half-pieces of wood. On top of that, place quarters. On top of that, place your tinder and small sticks.

Light the wood from the top. As the top stuff burns away, the burning ash will fall and light the layer beneath it, gradually working all the way down.

This provides heat for a long time with absolutely no management required.
