It's because they are peice of shit slumlords. My landlord got his rent every month even during covid bullshit. No hot water,stove doesn't work,porch falling in,faulty outlets and they just say if you don't like it move out,good luck finding another place. Says they are gonna fix it up nice after I'm gone. Don't like it leave. It's been a similar scenario in 3 different counties in TN. All the same type blaming everything on what their previous renters did. They know housing is so hard to get now they can do what they want.
