Thanks for the encouragement about S Dakota - I've been wondering if I should have stayed in fucking Seattle - I miss all the druggy homeless people and shit on the sidewalk there.

Here's my mistakes last night:

1. I should never have started driving anywhere last night - it was snowing and windy and shitty. And I was out in a rural area visiting some people, and my car could barely get out of their driveway - it had snowed about 3-6 inches when I was there.

2. Turning down a road that I THOUGHT was a specific highway, which was actually a non maintened gravel rural road. (It was visually hard to tell because fresh snow covered EVERYTHING. When you first turn down that road, it looks like a highway, but you learn quick that you just made a big mistake because you can't just turn around and go back - you're already entrenched in snow drifts that you easily get stuck in. I was just plowing past some of them successfully, and kept going for a while...it was a miracle how far down that road I was able to go. My front bumper is smashed to pieces, other plastics pieces broken. 2020 Toyota Corolla is the car I was driving. Pretty impressive ability for such a fucked up situation.

3. I didn't have my cell phone charger or charger USB to C line with me, and my phone was going dead. My friend had his cell phone and a charging USB line, but he was too drunk to use his phone properly, and I can't figure out Iphones - to me, Iphones look like a child's toy. So using the tail end of battery life of my phone, and his phone, we were able to contact a tow truck.

And more mistakes were made.

I just moved from the big city to rural midwest. Have the same car.

That is not the mistake I made.

The mistake I made was turning down an non maintained gravel road that LOOKED like a highway I take. I don't know the roads that well in that location, so made a mistake and turned down a gravel road with BIG snow drifts across it.

If you're gonna try and force your way through those snow drifts, you have to HIT THE GAS and try to speed up a little and hopefully PUSH through the drift, or in my as the snowdrifts were HARDENED, and I went up them like a jump ramp, and went airborn. At least 3 times a respectable jump with all four tires off the ground, then crashing back down and going down the road...until I hit that last drift and got STUCK.

I know how to go slow on icy roads, and always do it.

After slaughtering each one, I keep the meat outside and frozen. There is no need for freezers here.

There's so many different flavors of snow, and storms.

Now you have more reference.

Hard drifted snow is treacherous.

Sometimes you just stay put and wait out the storm.

Back in the 70's I was driving in a snowstorm late at night outside Philadelphia on U.S. 30, Lancaster Pike, in Ardmore. The snowplow must have stopped and turned around because suddenly there was about a foot of snow on the road and I didn't stop in time. The snow went up under the hood and pushed the rubber timing belt out of place. Luckily, I got a ride into Philly, came back the next day on the train and had the car towed to a shop where they put the timing belt back in the right position for $40.
