Australian Farms Decimated: Solution? Keep Exterminating Cats and Catch and Release Mice! | |

Had a lot of experience with cats since the 1980's and can tell you that they do not ever get tired of eating mice. Yes, they make other kills (I even believe fish is their favorite prey). But if you refrain from feeding them and they have tens of thousands of plump mice within feet of them, that is going to be the prime choice. Mothers with kittens prefer mice to teach their young what survival is (easiest common prey to handle for their size). The great snowy owl also prefer the usual lemmings for their survival and owlets. And yes, so many cats have been killed that now it would probably take close to 10 years for the cat population to go up enough to control the mice. Importing cats would speed up the process. For the native species, I too would hate to lose some. Some could micro-evolve become faster, stronger, smarter, etc. through survival of the fittest. Look how the black death got their nickname in Africa; the ones that survived the strongest cats in the world got to reproduce to carry on stronger traits. And vice-versa the lion, hyenas, honey badgers got strong off of each other's ancestor's interactions. If you had to decide between survival of some rare species or the survival of mankind supporting himself in Australia, what would you do? Nevertheless, it looks like to me that soon God is going to restore the earth to how it was during the time before Adam gave in to deception. Want to share this too (the ark of Noah is still in the red gorge near the summit of Mt Ararat) that there was an immense animal population explosion upon leaving the ark. Mice and/or Phascogales and birds evolved into many amazing species in only a few 1000 years tops escaping predation. Look at this map of where Marsupials are present day: [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] For predators to get to North America took time so Marsupials where able to evolve there into Oppossums, a very tough creature. Look at Asia, no Marsupials. I still wonder if the Marsupials micro-evolved from the mouse or vice-versa. Thread: Are Marsupials and Mice of One Kind? If So, Did the Pouched Exist Before the Nonpouched? After the Flood Questions I know we lost many species from the last few centuries but we still have the base kinds they came from except maybe many dinosaurs but probably environmental changes made it impossible for them to survive this current world that God will soon restore. Did not plan for the response to be so long, hope you enjoyed it. This is why they are so viciously attacked. Are activists still pushing catch and release of the mice when they could have been food for the cats? This was only around a year ago. Cats are awesome, let them work Am open to better ideas. It was my first poll post, maybe 2nd. Do not see any rats in the Australian videos but if they hang out where the mice do, a bigger cat may go for it. Meh, they'll never get rid of the feral cats. Pie in the sky dreaming. What's your solution then, Einstein? By the way, the toads are finally finding a balance, after displacing most of the pond-breeding frogs around. Toadlings are poisonous to predators, while froglings are not. |
