I googled ARK storm 2022 and a CRAPload of articles, from the NYTs on down (all from late summer/4-months ago- as in, they were all 'given' the story) discussing the absolute certainty of the impeding doom set to strike CA soon- mega flood incoming.

There is a key piece of the puzzle the probably made it epic in 1862 that may also be in play this year - A huge volcanic eruption.

The ash up very high can seed rain, I believe. There was a mega eruption in Africa before the flood of 1862. There was an eruption recently that has spread ash up high that could help seed rain for this round of atmospheric river event.
