...which Gaetz has said he will not support, because it gives McCarthy the gavel.

First couple times just vote but he nominated him on the last vote.

If McCarthy drops and Trump is nominated, I think that is when you will see Trump get more votes. It is unlikely they will let outsider take the role I think no matter who it is.

The 200+ have had promises made to them to Vote McCarthy, non will likely budge unless McCarthy quits. Who would give up millions in campaign funds or comity chair for an unknown replacement.

They have too much to lose if they make McCarthy mad. This is the essence of establishment. speaker is King.

Only takes five hard no McCarthy to continue Stalemate. Then McCarthy can cheat by asking members to not show up to reduce the threshold or negotiate a deal with Democrats.

If he asks members not to show, he risks Jefferies winning if a few Republican hold outs vote Jefferies.

Since bridges are burned, I think if I was a holdout, Imight prefer Jefferies over a pissed off McCarthy. No doubt now, if McCarthy wins, there will be hell to pay for the “Never McCarthy Faction”.

Having said that, I am in no way wanting Jefferies to be Speaker.
