There's no such thing as a 100% recovery after a bone break anyway. You are never the same there.

No way! I broke my finger like that and it took nearly 2 years just to stop the pain everyday. First year was agonising. 2nd year was strong aches. Now it aches all winter and every 3rd day in summer.

Rub a little dirt on it and walk it off.....

People have profoundly weaker bones lately than we did when I was young.

I have fallen from at least that height when swinging from Tarzan vines that broke over the edge of a cliff. Nothing broken. I have been the front guy on a simple wooden toboggan going about 60 mph and hit a damn steel pole on a backstop. I think it might have broken my shin a little, but I never went to the doctor. Just had a knot on my shin for a couple weeks, then back to normal.
I played a LOT of football with no pads or anything on rough fields that had concrete sidewalks nearby. I flew about 40 feet through the air and landed on a concrete sidewalk one time. (was trying to tackle my friend who had the ball. He was a huge guy, I went high and he flipped me about 40 feet through the air). It hurt, but nothing broken.

I don't know if it is from drinking carbonated beverages, or R/O water, or simply because they are not active enough on their feet, but people these days break bones if you look at them wrong.

They re-align them and use plates and screws... no other way to do it really

There are many many reasons why bones are brittle now and not strong to include all of what you said. Our food is the first thing, our life style and calcium in your blood instead of into your bones. Bad thyroids. Next up is the biggy....drugs/medications/prescriptions. Lack of exposure to sunshine....being sedentary. Poor immune systems. Alcohol, cigarettes...you know the drill. We just don't live clean anymore.

I'm a professional climber and this guys first mistake was failing to get the route done statically.


Second mistake was trying to land on his feet coming off the wall the way he did, should have rolled once he hit the mat or just body slammed the mat.


He will never walk right again.

He may lose that foot. It is hardly guaranteed that it can be saved.

I think something is wrong with him. That shouldn't have been so bad.

I can't watch it.

I remember a video of an NBA player (10-15+ years ago) went up for a dunk and his planted leg reversed backwards like a flamingo.

That was the worse I've every saw.

There is a real skill to taking a fall...

Knowing how to "roll out of it" is key.

Another thing I learned as a skateboarder was how to fall.
