You can not have a self sufficient garden food supply when you are dependent on commercial hydroponic solutions, pumps, artificial lighting and supplies. It might be productive but it would be impossible to sustain during crisis.

It is not organic in the natural sense of the meaning. How does this artificial environment effect the long term health impact on the plants and humans?

I knew a man that attempted to switch his large commercial chicken farm over to organic feed. Their bodies had mutated to be only able to absorb the synthetic nutrients and could no longer absorb the natural nutrients from organic feed and they all died.

This topic is a good debate on many levels. I have many questions and concerns.

I am set up to have an indoor hydroponic emergency winter food growing system just in case of that kind of emergency that would prevent any outdoor gardening and natural lighting like a nuke winter.
But it is not my first choice of production for any food I consume, home grown or purchased.
