According to the study, these issues are classified as “minor” but have the potential to worsen into more significant medical problems.

Many skeptical of the surgeries and their mental health effects say they often do not achieve the goals hoped for by those with gender dysphoria.

“It is quite clear from the most up-to-date studies that vaginoplasty and other genital surgeries don’t work in the way that people hope they will,” Genspect director and psychotherapist Stella O’Malley said."

When it comes to the aforementioned complications. I experienced some issues with dilation and such but they passed and have had no complications 12 years later. I can have orgasms. Very satisfying ones. Again, your choice of surgeon matters. This is not something to be taken lightly. I had to have 3 years of therapy befor a surgeon would even see me. I had to live as a female for one year before I could be prescribed hormones. There are good reasons for this. What they are doing today is terrifying. No therapy. No real life test. So even though you were born in a way that is not atypical for the human condition you were made to jump through hoops to get the surgery which in your case has helped you and been done to ensure you have some quality of life.. I had to have major pelvic surgery in September to basically reconstruct my vagina after having 2 large babies naturally, having tears both times. I also worked over 33 years on my feet and have had bowel issues most of my adult life, (think straining). Things start to fall and genitourinary issues can arrive (trust me, it sux to leak urine when you laugh, sneeze, etc) in many women; post-menopausal ones like me especially.

That surgery knocked me down harder than the hysterectomy and major bowel surgery I had in
the early 2000's. 4 months post-op and I am still in pain -

MANY women who have the procedure I had will still have pain and discomfort a year after the procedure(s) - some women never can have sex again - some have pain that never goes away.

Sexual transition surgery is MUCH more major than what I had done - and like MOST of medicine, CLEAR and TRANSPARENT consent is not given (in other words, the REAL complications and "side effects" are never revealed).
