It soon became one of the most corrupt nations on earth. Billions of dollars were laundered through Ukraine back to politicians in every Western Democracy. At the same time there was a push to make Ukraine part of NATO, something that Russia could never allow. You see if the shoe was on the other foot the USA would never allow it either. That's what the Cuban Missile Crisis was about. Did you take that before you flunked out in Grade 5 ? You see back then the US would not allow Russian missiles as close as Cuba because it gave Russia the advantage of a first strike. So they almost went to War to have them removed. Flash ahead to now. NATO kept pushing the idea of Ukraine joining. Putin kept warning them. They kept it up. It would mean NATO missiles right on his border. He could never let it happen.
