Re: Treasury Taps Retirement Funds to Avoid Breaching US Debt Limit
You know what's really scary?

The U.S. national debt reached the debt ceiling of $31.41 trillion in January 2023.

The Federal Reserve's Financial Accounts of the United States reported that the total amount of U.S. retirement assets (outside of Social Security) was $40.8 trillion at the end of 2021.

So the people in this country hold more than enough in retirement accounts to actually PAY OFF the national debt!

Could that be why government spending is so out of control? They don't seem at all worried about the debt, at least not worried enough to curtail government spending. Let's just hope they're not eyeing those accounts.

Would probably come up with something like saying everyone gets a guaranteed income, guaranteed by the government, so who needs those accounts anyway. What a joke! Just hoping the American people don't get bamboozled by those crooks in Washington!

Thankfully, it seems to only be affecting Federal Employees for right now. We all know this is subject to change.

From the article in the OP:

The specific funds affected by the Treasury’s move are:

The Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund, or CSRDF, which provides defined benefits to retired and disabled federal employees

The Postal Service Retiree Health Benefits Fund, or PSRHBF, which provides postal-service retiree health-benefit-premium payments. The fund is also invested in special-issue Treasuries

Americans never say they want less tyranny.

Americans say Biden supporting a debt increase is just fine because Trump did, too.

Americans scream gun bans are great if black people also lose their guns.

Americans say license plate readers are okay if illegal immigrants are also recorded by license plate readers.

Americans think that closing churches is wonderful if temples are closed, too.

Americans say banning dogs is fine if hamsters are also outlawed.

Americans say banning baseball hats is fantastic because cowboy hat collections will increase in value.

Americans think checkpoints are terrific because you can use another road.

Americans say outlawing spicy mustard is good because you could still buy original mustard.

Americans swear banning body armor is fantastic because you can easily make body armor with egg cartons.

Americans say that if the Gestapo are abolished then there would be absolutely no way you could protect your home.

Good point.

Tyranny didn't work out too well for the USSR, Nazi Germany, and Cambodia so why are Americans embracing it?

Re: Treasury Taps Retirement Funds to Avoid Breaching US Debt Limit
Life may be all fun and games now in the USA, but as offshoring increases, illegal immigration rises, hard-working Americans die off or dropout due to higher taxes and more regulations, the national debt climbs, there is more terrorism as the result of illegal American wars, the police become more brutal enforcing draconian decrees, the US Ponzi economy and stock markets collapse, cash is banned, Americans are implanted with microchips, and real crises and false flags are used to force Americans to go to the gulags and finally to the gas chambers and ovens, will Americans wish that they had spoken out earlier against the dangers of wars, debt, and tyranny?
