The Don Of Nantucket User ID: 80692948 United States 02/04/2023 01:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I’ve got plenty of friends and family in Beaver County, PA. Word is that some of the tank cars are carrying vinyl chloride. There are over 20 crews on scene, with more on the way. All of them are volunteer fire departments. They’re having difficulty finding water hookups and are pumping from nearby sources…most frozen over. They’re having difficulty getting the fires out. Engines were able to decouple and have rolled away from the scene. Another train going the opposite way and was stopped in time, about a mile or so from the derailment. That train has backed away. Quoting: Larphillips I think of these kinds of scenarios everytime I pass by the new cracker plant! PLATA BITCHEZZZZZZ UPGRADE UNAVAILABLE The Rolling Stones said it best... Quoting: Maximum_Overdrive Thanks for the in depth update! Glad the crew is alright! Stay safe out there and look forward to any more details. I never gave the extreme cold we’re experiencing a thought, but absolutely makes sense. Will do, we have a computer system called cab signals and Ptc, sometimes the signal flips from green to a stop signal and the cpu freaks out and slows the train down because it’s recognizing a stop signal. This sudden jerk caused a derailment in Ravenna a few months ago in some dudes back yard, wondering if that’s what did it here too. Given this is your route, you don't sound the slightest bit concerned about your future trips given the recent history and tonight. How are you really stomaching this considering? Stones aside, Brother. Is crews rarely get hurt and I’ve only derailed once in a decade. My biggest concern is making an error at work that causes something like this, besides this derailment is giving me extended free time off. I'm a tradesman in a very dark and dangerous one that see's many maimed and/or killed, tis why I ask. It takes a special sort. Stay safe, Brother, I appreciate and completely understand your response. Several local outlets have reported the train consisted of 100 oil tankers, 50-70 of which are now engulfed in flames. I’ve heard mixed reports about a small refinery also be involved. Latest I’ve seen on Twitter was a report that the refinery seems to be still intact and not damaged or on fire. Anonymous Coward User ID: 83589711 United States 02/04/2023 01:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is a road crossing there where we pass a gas station, it kind of bottle neck and the track is only 50 feet from the gas station. I’m wondering if we clipped that, a Texaco I want to say but I just know a blue and red logo I believe. |

They maintain it slot because Amtrak runs on it, I have to contact the foreman working on the track before we go by them and I was doing that all summer. The true issue is the rail car conditions, the weight of the train and winding terrain in regards to this specific route. |
