There were no survivors after a Black Hawk helicopter crashed Wednesday afternoon near Huntsville, Alabama, officials said. The helicopter belonged to the Tennessee National Guard and was on a routine training mission, the National Guard Bureau confirmed to CBS News.

The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. local time directly off Highway 53 in Madison County, and the helicopter burned upon impact, Huntsville Emergency Medical Services said. Cell phone video showed a plume of black smoke rising hundreds of feet into the air on the side of the highway.

It was the TN National Guard, it’s only about 15 miles north of this area. Crashed about 1/4 mile from my daughter’s school, had to go about 1 hour around to get over there to pick her up.

Lots of reports it lost control and dumped, no survivors- 2 dead.

Hey 53 will be closed all day tomorrow for investigation, which works out well as it’s a first alert weather day (possible tornados), so schools are closed down throughout the county.

Weather alert happened before crash… days ahead.

I hate helicopters.
We have a place across from us where the medical ones land periodically. We used to always go out and watch them land and take off, but I'm always scared something will happen.
