ORDWAY, Colo. - At least two people died when a wind-driven wildfire swept across the plains and forced 1,110 residents to evacuate a southeastern Colorado town Tuesday. Elsewhere, a tanker pilot was killed when his plane went down while battling another blaze.

The Ordway blaze killed two people, damaged at least 20 buildings and scorched nearly 10 square miles of grasslands, officials said. Two air tankers were dispatched to fight the fire and two state highways were closed to the town, 122 miles southeast of Denver.
