It will look cheap when the nukes start flying.

Missile silos and bomber bases were built there in the 1950s because it was far enough from the coasts that they could launch before Russian bombers or missiles got there. Why would they be nuke targets? If their problem is the liberal agenda (LGBTQ / Social Justice / etc) then the Major cities: Portland, Seattle, LA, NYC, DC, etc) would be the primary targets....They aren't stupid, and I'm sure they'd know if that is done, rural America will turn the US conservative at that point, and the war would likely be over.
