I think it is too late for autologous blood donation (you donate your own blood and have it waiting). I think you have to donate within a week before surgery. That would have been your best option.

Otherwise, you can have a directed donor, but they have to cross and match to make sure you can receive their blood.

I am a type 1 diabetic who is on blood thinners and going through chemo.

No one wants to touch my blood.

In fact I am sitting in hospital unable to leave my bed and the nurses have been told to take extra precautions and double glove just to take away my urine bottle.

You have a pretty good chance of getting unvaccinated blood since only 50-60% of people got vaxxed and a lot of them were old people who aren’t usually donating blood anyway, especially if they have medical problems.

I am very anti-"vax", but if I had to choose between vaccinated blood or sure death, I'd take the blood. At least it buys you some time and maybe you'll luck out. Maybe it won't be vaccinated blood, or maybe it will but you'll be the type that can withstand it.

Both choices are bad, but one might buy you some time. And there is also a regimen you can do to lessen the effects if you get the bad blood.

They do not keep any records regarding the vaccination status of the donor.

So the question is not about the medical neccesity to receive blood but rather do I want vaccinated blood in me and risk death rather than receive it.

I had to have a transfusion last year and am unvaxxed as well. It's unnerving. I will tell you this much, I don't think its a real issue. I took a lot of enzymes starting about a week or so after surgery. Nattokinase, for instance. PROTEOLYTIC enzymes. But they thin the blood so don't do it right away after surgery. It will tackle the spike proteins tho. I haven't had any troubles since then.
