The real solution to solar energy isn't solar panels; its a fresnel lens attached to a steam engine/boiler.

I saw a solar hot water heater that used Freon to track the sun simply, without electricity. These days I imagine that the sky is the limit for an overengineered design with chips and code and gizmos but there's something to be said for simplicity.

There are a million YT videos of people using magnifying glasses to start a fire.

There's not one single video of them using it to turn a turbine.

i already got a cast iron tortilla maker and a welder...i can weld a steel circular dome to it and drill some holes for brass fitting pneumatics.

I've wanted to build a passive solar heating setup using small fresnel lens. My biggest concern was it worth it because this winter I have had so many cloudy days. I don't honestly know if either is viable but I'd love to see what you come up with.

I think mirrored solar collectors on a steam generated tower are even more efficient.

Some company made a deployable concentrator that was connex box size where everything was made in a factory and shipped to the site.

im wondering if anyone knows about emulsifiers in these steam industrials...i want water to mix with oil to prevent rust, but liquid emulsifiers will evap with liquid quite possibly...is there a powder based emulsifier?

A stirling engine would be more efficient that a steam engine, but good concept. If I temember correctly, there are some remote places that use etirling engines for power.

these californians stranded in the snow mountains could have used this..look at all the sunlight around them but they are iced in.

They make the most sense in extreme environments.

I can't help but wonder if we could solve the energy crisis by building them in mass in the southwest or Alaska.

Lenses and mirrors used to amplify the solar energy can run very large constant power plants and do so very easily. They can provide reliable power for huge loads just like coal and nuclear plants can.

When you live in a world where the solar answer from the leaders is the pathetically destructive solar panels then you live in a world with completely shit leadership that should sacked and even executed for solar panel crimes against humanity.

The real lensed and mirrored solar power can also make it so there is no need for the totally destructive wind turbines the pathetic leadership is pushing as well. We have plenty of areas of Earth that get enough sunlight to power the entire world on lensed solar power. We could even use this dirt cheap and clean energy to start desalinating all the water resources our wicked leaders have no interest in doing. We can irrigate this entire planet and power it all with lensed solar.
