Severe Weather Outbreak & Geomagnetic Storm Underway. Mass Casualty Event

A moderate (G2) geomagnetic storm watch has been added beginning March 24th due to a large coronal hole now facing Earth. A solar wind stream flowing from this zone is predicted to reach our planet by Friday and could contribute to nice displays of aurora at higher latitudes. Current solar wind conditions remain enhanced with a speed above 500 km/s. Sky watchers should be alert, especially towards the end of the week.

...Lower MS Valley...
The air mass will destabilize across this area well into the
evening, which will remain open warm sector with the cold front
stalling to the west. Severe weather is most likely late in the day
and evening as low-level moisture remains favorable, gradual cooling
aloft occurs, and the low-level shear increases substantially. The
fact that convergence will be subtle may be beneficial to the
supercell tornado threat, and deepening bands of convection may
eventually produce tornadoes from northern LA into central MS. Even
if storms in this area remain isolated, impressive hodographs with
0-1 SRH over 300 m2/s2 will favor supercells and tornadoes, perhaps
tracking for long distances given the lack of cold/stable air.
Therefore despite perhaps a weaker model signal over these southern
areas, the Moderate Risk has been maintained.

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 73
continues.

SUMMARY...Storms ongoing across parts of WW 73 are expected to shift
east-northeastward and eventually out of the existing watch
boundaries. Limited severe risk expanding toward the DFW metroplex
as these storms progress, will warrant consideration of WW issuance.

DISCUSSION...Latest radar loop shows a vigorous/locally severe band
of storms moving east-northeastward across the Big Country of Texas,
with its progression roughly coincident with the advance of the
surface cold front.

With a moist/amply unstable airmass just atop a weakly stable
surface-based layer, expect the convection to persist. However,
severity of the convection is uncertain, with the low-level
stability tempering wind risk to some degree, and radar trends over
the past hour or so suggestive of only marginal hail/wind. Without
an apparent mechanism that would lead to a substantial increase in
storm organization/intensity, severe risk will likely remain
limited/isolated -- and thus need for a downstream WW remains
uncertain at this time.

The charged particles from the geomagnetic storm, heats up and subsequently raises the height of the ionosphere. This allows cyclones / large tornadoes to expand and spin faster.

There could be some long duration, very powerful tornadoes from this event.
