All my vehicles are old because we can't afford to replace them, but why would we want the newer stuff. The metal is flimsy and too many electronic doo-dahs that just go bad. The def systems on tractors are a joke. My 2 that have it have cost me over 20,000 in repairs. deplorably republican |

Quoting: borji Electric everything i dont want or need. Just more stuff to break. I like roll up windows. I like standard manual shift. I dont need air conditioning or a camera to back up. Whats wrong with mechanical adjusting seats. Every issue and gadget is monetized making truck cost more than 50,60 70k thousand dollars. It is sick. Cant get it, cant have it, They wont make it. I just read only 18% can drive standard shift. A Tundra with a V6 was $60,000! Cant even get a V8 no more. Hey Chevy,,,,, how bout a V8 8foot bed 5speed standard shift with roll up windows for $20K I bet you would sell thousands........ Remember the used car buy back program by Obama...? How’s that working for the poor now |

New 2022 RAM 1500 Big Horn DIESEL MSRP $54,190 Asking $38,687 Local dealer in Las Vegas That is a damn good deal for a new diesel that will outlast you. I bet I could get that down to $34,000 no problem, maybe less. |

They don't want demandy, nit-picky skin-flint customers like you who want a 2023 performing truck at 1980's prices. Go and get a "simple" fixer-upper and see how much a reliable rebuild costs. All of a sudden that fancy thing with all the bells and whistles, economy and performance looks like a bargain on a 120 monthly payment plan, warranty thrown in. |

When I did a lot more handyman work, it was my biggest complaint that they didn't simply build trucks for work. Similar to a complaint I had when they were always building fancy apartment buildings, but never basic, affordable efficiencies. 230 here, but 0 there. |

The current government regulations have destroyed all the fuel economy and durability that diesels used to have. Yep. You have to go back to 2006, for a good reliable diesel. Dodge Cummins of coourse. !994-1997 wold be even better. If you don't need the torque and payload ability of a Dodge diesel, the 1988-98 Chevy Z71 is an excellent value. V8 engine, 350 cubic inch, that is very reliable and will take a beating for a long time. I have a 1997 with 275,000 miles on the engine, and it's still purring along nicely. As for electric windows on older trucks, they seem to be very reliable. I have a lot of old trucks, from 1992-2006, and all have electric windows, and they all work properly. On the other hand, most of my trucks have blend and diverter door problems. Real pain in the ass when you absolutely, positively need defrost to blow ON THE WINDSHIELD! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 82928418 04/02/2023 06:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just buy a classic 70's pickup, and have it restored to better than new, some tasty upgrades. I see it done on those motor shows all day long. You'll fooking love it. Don;'t be giving mega bucks for these nasty plastic electric rigs that they can shutdown remotely. Give the money to an artisan, a master mechanic who can take a barn find and make it a 1000x sexier, cooler, durable and practicable than these EV fagwags. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 85556211 ![]() 04/02/2023 06:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I dont think it is possible to order a true "bare bones" vehicle today having roll-up windows and no computers or any of the other unnecessary crap which nobody really needs and which adds many thousands to the price of a vehicle. None of us need all this bullshit that is added to todays vehicles, except the rich daddies girls who cant possibly survive without seat warmers because minor discomfort like a chilly butt is just too much of a burden to want to carry on another day in life! And when all this BS stuff breaks or malfunctions, the parts and labor is insane. Its ridiculous. |
