To access Story Mode, first join the main game, leave the lobby building and go outside, then head for the large purple marker with the text "Story Mode" above it. Note that when the game is starting, you can't access story mode until the game has already begun or it's still in intermission. Go inside the purple aura, interact with the GUI box and wait for some seconds to be teleported. You can play with multiple players and friends if you so wish, but you can also do it alone. The max number of players is 4.
