Now energy companies make you pay to have your faulty smart meter repaired: Customers left in the dark as devices go dumb | |

I live in King William County, Virginia USA and the entire electrical system was destroyed by a hurricane over a decade ago. Now our electrical meters send their information over the electrical grid back to the Rappahannock Electric Cooperative and since the entire grid is controlled via a fiber optic network, the cooperative is installing fiber Internet to all of their customers homes and businesses. I'll soon have a 1,000 MB data connection at home instead of my needing to use a cellular modem with outside antennas on the house to let me pull 1,600 GB data every month. It sounds like this tool bought one for himself. The father-of-two first got a smart meter just 18 months ago when energy prices started to soar. |

REC here as well (Fauquier). I used to like them until I found a smart meter installed one evening after work w/ no chance to opt out. |
