Pickup truck market is impossible

truck dealers went from not being able to get vehicles due to chip shortages, to being flooded with inventory they can't sell.

Odd that people aren't lined up to pay $110,000 for an electric pickup truck or $85,000 for a regular pickup.

I tried just recently to buy a 2023 trail boss.
Had a 2020 silverado only 18,000 km for trade and was offering $17,000 cash also. They wouldn’t go for it

I guess they’re more happy with the inventory.
It would have been much easier for them to resell my used truck with the low mileage, they-could have still made bank but they decided against it.
My truck still has warranty

Re: Pickup truck market is impossible
If you have a low mileage pickup truck, I would sell it myself and price it against what the new alternatives are. (Or keep it!)

Just taking what a dealer offers as a trade in will lose you a massive amount of money.

Especially if your truck was built before they started to really screw up the engine designs by putting variable cylinder management on them and that stupid thing that shuts the engine off every time you come to a stop.

There have been a rash of other problems on the new trucks as well. I forget them all, but there are videos out there that will list all the problems. Guys pay $80,000 for a new Truck for their business, and it is in the shop 90% of the time for all manner of issues.

It's a disgrace what has happened to this industry.

I bought my GMC Sierra 4WD back in 2006 when the gas prices were insane and got a pretty good deal on it. Crew cab, fairly well equipped and has the 4WD manual shift on the floor where it belongs. (I think Obama was in office at the time, fundamentally screwing America).

Those modern push button 4WD selector switches are also a maintenance problem. For the few times I use 4WD, having to actually move the manual shift lever is not a problem. :)

Park them in a square, engines facing the centre.

Pop down the tail gates. Sell your goods off the back.

Instant Pick-up Truck market.

There was nothing impossible about that.

Ford quit making cars other than the mustang, so they have to make all their money on the trucks.

Here are some of the new truck problems.

Re: Pickup truck market is impossible
Some immigrant smashed my 2018 honda hrv last novemeber. It took 6 weeks to get a payout from the insurance company cause they wrote it off. 29600.. This is CDN not usd.

So for 6 weeks I searched high and low in town, across ontario etc for a decent vehicle and just couldn't find anything. They wanted the 29k for 2016s with cloth interior and higher miles of similar vehicle makes. I had the ex navi loaded leather etc with 90k on it. Everything was over 130k or up for miles, no leather, just junk imo.

I finally found an 07 wrangler that some retired couple had winter stored for like 12 years and only put on maybe 7k as second owners. It had 115k total on it but the things was mint. The frame and under belly looked like it just rolled off the assembly line it was so clean and still had factory paint on the frame etc. Got it for 20k. It has after market bumpers, rims/tires, lift kit etc which is why I spent the 20k otherwise without those additions and rust free shape it was probably a 15k jeep at most. It had 500 dollar mickey thompson baja off road tires on it.. I had to replace them though because the ride was so rough so I ended up spending another 2k on rubber for some falken wildpeaks at3. Spent another 1k on alpine/kicker audio system, 300 on new battery. I might need to replace the alternator as the lights are dimming a bit/flickering but that might be the old battery thats still in there.

The only thing I hate about this jeep is the ride is super rough and its a bit hard on gas compared to that honda I had. And I don't like how people keep coming up to me asking about the jeep in parking lots and gas stations. Because its in such great shape and has some military decals on it, it draws a lot of attention. The rough ride is because our roads are so fucked up here.. Its not too bad on smoother/newer roads and I can't see myself using it on a long highway trip..

I wanted a Jeep as a lad, even almost bought a WWII Willy's surplus Jeep when you could buy the Cosmoline kit for next to nothing. Dad was in WWII and he talked me out of it.
Of course the newer Jeeps are like luxury rides compared to the old ones.

You might want to check your ground wires for your flickering light. Sometimes it is the simple things...

You have to go to a dealer and order a plain jane truck

Standard cab, standard trans, rubber floor, etc

Nobody stocks them because theres little profit there

And its all about profit - fuck the customers needs

Kind of forgot my main point to that post.. I was trying to say the used market is such a giant fuck show or was back in january.. Everything is high miles and over priced. A lot of these canadian dealers ship out the vehicles to the u.s for auction to bring in usd which leaves anyone up here looking for decent used stuff almost fighting over the scraps unless you can afford to buy brand new, which most can't.
This jeep has very basic shit, manual locks/windows. It feels like a better quality built vehicle than alot of the newer electrical shit they pump out today and in the last 5 years.

Back in 08 a lot of auto parts used to be made in north america then we had that housing crisis.. I noticed a lot of the auto parts plants closed and moved out of country to mexico or asia. Since then, the vehicles just don't seem to have a decent quality build to them anymore even though people are dazzled by all the computerized shit they jam into those new vehicles.
