Outside of obnoxious internet influencers, those kids aren’t covering the rent much less buying a house. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80842676 The earliest designation is 1997, while most say 2000. So...nobody in their "late" 20's is Z. Math it out. |

Many of these Zoomers have internet side-hustles to make extra money. The problem with making money this way is that it isn’t sustainable, it’s too volatile and not stable. the REAL problem with it is it's inevitably a FUCKING CON. cons don't contribute anything, in face, devalue the money. look it up on wiki on inflation mechanisms. if cons are paid, nothing was generated and if this keeps up, everyone has money and there's no produce to buy. Yep. My comment was not posted for saying something very similar. I mentioned two social platforms by name so maybe that was the reason. Who fucking knows with "asset" GLP. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84370734 Is it because they are further generationally distanced from boomers? It's a misleading study. It's comparing Gen Z at age 20 TODAY, with Gen X when they were 20 (30+ years ago). Gen Z age ranges from: 8 years old - 23 year old (today) The 'study' attributes higher Gen Z home ownership to the extremely low interest rates during the pandemic, along with the free money the government was handing out. It doesn't factor in the much higher foreclosure rate that's happened over the last 6 months on Gen Z home owners. Here's the RedFin 'study': [link to www.redfin.com (secure)] |

They essentially play bank for their own children, which is exactly what I've been saying a parent should do if they can, for years now. Then it's in the family. Quoting: Feathery Gen Z is '97-'10. That means only a small portion will have boomer parents, and then only the youngest of the boomers. Most Gen Z will have Gen X and Millennial parents. Right but people here a very math challenged |

Is that really a thing? My parents didn't even buy me a car, much-less a house. Gen Z parents aren't buying them a house exactly, they are giving them the down payment tho...and helping as needed. |

I wonder how the fact that many are first generation Americans, foreigners/non-Whites plays into it? A lot of rich foreigners are buying up US real estate. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 81680631 Also I'm sure the UN makes sure there are special deals for foreigners, and a lot of illegals use adult anchor babies as the name to get a house- then a lot of relatives will live in it and help with payments. |

Gen z hit a goldie locks era where the boomers have all retired while the gen x who couldn't get decent jobs had to break their backs and bodies doing whatever crap job they could get now in their 40s and 50s with busted bodies. The only ones I know from gen x who got homes got a trade skill or uni and gov job.. The rest ended up riddled with health problems, drug problems, jail, suicide etc.. |
