It's comparing Gen Z at age 20 TODAY, with Gen X when they were 20 (30+ years ago).

Gen Z age ranges from: 8 years old - 23 year old (today)

The 'study' attributes higher Gen Z home ownership to the extremely low interest rates during the pandemic, along with the free money the government was handing out.

It doesn't factor in the much higher foreclosure rate that's happened over the last 6 months on Gen Z home owners.

You do realize this means they are all completely screwed in the event of a housing crash, right? Given the age span, they would have been buying at the top of an inflated market, some of them also being destroyed on higher interest rates, too.

What do they do when they run off the workers? Home ownership will be dependent on the state.

Yeah, this Forbes article has to be the biggest piece of propaganda I'll read today. There's no way that GenZ own more homes than GenX or Millenials. I would think that only early GenZ would even be able to afford a house at their age and they're coming into the 2nd major recession in their short lives, not to mention a lot are also strapped with college loan debt.

The oldest of them are 25 so that's kind of strange. I wonder how the fact that many are first generation Americans, foreigners/non-Whites plays into it? A lot of rich foreigners are buying up US real estate.

Also I'm sure the UN makes sure there are special deals for foreigners, and a lot of illegals use adult anchor babies as the name to get a house- then a lot of relatives will live in it and help with payments.

Buying is one thing, hanging on to them is completely different.

That doesn't surprise me. Gen X had to get skilled to own a home. Boomers just needed a highschool. More boomers in workforce made it harder for gen x to get jobs and opportunities. Gen z hit a goldie locks era where the boomers have all retired while the gen x who couldn't get decent jobs had to break their backs and bodies doing whatever crap job they could get now in their 40s and 50s with busted bodies. The only ones I know from gen x who got homes got a trade skill or uni and gov job.. The rest ended up riddled with health problems, drug problems, jail, suicide etc..

Oh and a few gen x I know did try to start small businesses right before covid hit then got their nuts cut off during covid lock downs lol.. Probably the hardest generation to succeed in coming up behind the boom generation who held all the good jobs.

I would say it is more, that people don't know what the arbitrary years are for academia and medias made up generations. The people supposedly classed in the same generation don't even really fit together and aren't really the same. It's all just arbitrary, made up bullshit.
