I have a migraine and my head is literally killing me. That is an accepted use because literally has been accepted as a metaphor for a long time, however the correct usage would be this. Example 2. I have a migraine and my head is figuratively killing me. That sounds stupid so people don't use it anymore. However there is another usage that is also correct. Example 3. I have brain cancer and my head is literally killing me. The last example is correct and also hilarious. If I ever get brain cancer I am going to use that one. |
