For example: - A guy once walked across the street directly towards me, only to mumble something at the last second and walk away quickly. - One time a guy was hiding behind a tree and then acted like it was my fault when he got scared, started rambling about "what if I was an old woman and had a heart attack?" Then he started complimenting me on my strength. Wtf? - There's a little retirement home near my house. One night I walked past and out of nowhere a woman said "want to come inside and help me clean?" I was so taken aback that I could only utter "heh...no thanks..." I assume she was either extremely horny or a murderer.

Was eventually told no one bothered me because the joggers thought I was either the craziest white man they ever seen, or a murderer. Either way, no one wanted to fuck with me. The woods are my favorite place to walk at night. One trail was so dark, I had to feel my way for a hundred yards or so, climbing down in some spots. Couldn't see him, a buck was so close I could smell and feel his breath. Yes, a bit of a scary situation, but the buck was just curious.

Walk with a purpose, like you are going somewhere. Keep your eyes wide open. Most importantly, show no fear. Again, for over a decade I walked nearly every street in Detroit at night. Lost count on the number of people I came to their rescue because they made themselves a target by being scared out of their wits when they encounter roving youths at night.

The most interesting thing I find is the occasional fox or possum. Oh, and the birds that seems to sleep on the ground/sidewalks. Sometimes I'll spook one and it will fly away squawking... not sure why they sleep on the ground like that. INFJ/Conservative Artist

Sitting in the back seat with a gun to my head, one gangbanger asked me if I was scared. Smiled and told him I would by lying if I said I wasn't. He laughed and told the driver to pull over and they let me continue my walk.

Again, follow the rules I outlined above. By keeping your eyes wide open on the streets, and you see a potential threat, cross the street and avoid him at least a half block before your paths meet. An acceptable practice in the 'hood.
