What's the cheapest/least expensive meal to serve at your wedding?

Don't serve anything.. get married at the courthouse and call it a day.

Chicken leg quarters. You can still find them in 10 lb. bags for 5 bucks. Serve it with some type of rice dish.

Have a reception later, you can even do a pot luck.

Spend money on a good local band for entertainment.

If you are going to have catering the least expensive is barbecue. Pulled pork, pulled chicken, potato salad, etc.

why serve a meal? it's wedding, no need for food to be involved. if you absolutely feel you need to offer something to get people to show up, a keg and snacks for the reception should be plenty

Definitely pasta. You could do pasta with meatballs and a basic salad or rolls, or penne broccoli alfredo w/salad and/or rolls.

BBQ buffet with bbq chicken legs or thighs, beans, cole slaw or potato salad.

Build your own rice bowls : rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, maybe ground beef or shredded chicken, salsa.

Or just tell everyone to eat their own food before they arrive. I don't understand anyone who pays big for a wedding, I paid $90 to get married 14 years ago and neither one of us regret it, why are big weddings necessary?
