Mini 14 is nice. I think I would have preferred it over the AR 15 sporter I bought years ago. Their handguns{I've owned only one} are perfectly functional but ugly{if that's important to you}. I tend to judge all by my old colts. A goldcup national match and a stainless 10mm delta elite.

Their rifles tend to have stiff triggers, but some people like that. The quality and reliability is pretty good. The Ruger 10/22 is probably the best 22 out there. The Ruger 556 is a nice AR-15.

I shoot a M77 in 30-06 that I bought new in 1978, topped with a 4x12 Redfield scope.

In reference to the post mentioning stiff triggers, mine came from the box with an adjustable trigger. Shortly after I bought the gun Ruger issued a recall on the triggers. Instructed to send the rifle to the factory for a standard replacement trigger. I didn't send mine in, and still have the "faulty" trigger.

I also own two 10-22s. One for plinking, rabbits, and squirrels, the other with a thumbhole stock, straight 6x scope, sighted 0.0 at 100 yards with CCI ammo for....just because. It never comes out of the safe except to check zero on occasion.

Re: Ruger firearms. Let’s talk.
I don't know anything about the gun. But I know someone who worked for the factory in Prescott for 11yrs. A smart and detailed person.

He told me that he left Ruger because they kept letting faulty guns go out the door. And refused to be responsible for that happening.

My father who became a professional 3 gun shooter, training military on weapons handling, never had a AR until competition...

He did have a Mini 14 and was competent with it .. it was not nearly as cool as his open bolt Mac 10 that he had at the time

Cheap, one step above a keltec. Buy quality not that much more money and have a quality firearm. One exception is the older ruger 10/22's now that was awesome 22 rifle.

Bill Ruger was an innovative designer.

I have had half a dozen of his products and all have been without any operational issues. Have been durable and incredibly reliable.

In my opinion, Ruger is every bit as good as Remington, and Winchester.

Let's not forget the Ruger OlD Army.44 caliber black powder revolver. It's a beast. Way nicer than Pietta or Uberti.
