I don't really follow hardware anymore. Back in the day nvidia had the superior drivers. Amd seemed to put out nice hardware on paper but somehow lacked decent software and performance.

No surprise there. Even their low spec cards are expensive with the excuse of the pandemic (which is not any more) and the generic manufacturing shortage. No RTX 2060 should cost more than 200$ with the old trends by now, but no, they are probably all above that limit.

I feel their stock will stay strong for the long haul. I wish I would've put 2+2 together before it was overvalued. I'm slow like that I guess.

Everyone is now investing in AI, so they buy NVIDIA chips to do their AI work.

Don't oversimplify things. Computer programming is a very generic term. AI is a whole branch not a small leaf of the tree. It needs specialization and a lot of maths even if in the end someone would use ready made libraries to minimize the effort of producing something in least possible time. It's like saying DSP is computer programming but again it needs specialization and only a few can cope with such specializations exactly because it is not "Hello world" programs or simple CRUD backends or stupid frontends.

Hard to believe this. Nobody is buying these cards for over a year now since mining stopped and the 4000 series was a let down. You can’t give away 1000, 2000 and 3000 series cards on the used market now and somehow Nvidia stock is in the stratosphere. Laughable.

There simply are too many people who think AI is some magical know all entity, while in reality, there is nothing intrinsically intelligent about it. It's all purposeful procedures acting on input. Programs; not intellectual entities living inside computers.
