First off, I am not a sell-out and I am not LARPing, but yes...I live in a 15-minute city by choice and have a microscopic carbon footprint. | |

I cannot drive anymore. I have hung up my goggles and driving gloves for good. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80914417 It forced me to move off the remote mountain land I have and secure a place in a city, but I chose the location carefully so that everything I required would be within 15 minutes of where I decided to live. It's been a year since I moved, and in this very year, the topic of 15 minute cities began. The concept of 15 minute cities is strangely exact to the one I created for myself. Doctors, clinics, hospitals, markets, specialty stores, entertainment venues and public transportation are either right outside of my front door or no more than 15 minutes away by public transportation. Am I happy, content and comfortable in my 15 minute city? Yes. Am I going to get hammered for promoting it? Oh, most certainly. Let 'er rip, boyz! But keep in mind that I'm happy, content and comfortable. That's the Big 3, you know! Wait until you realize that carbon is essentially self-regulating and that while they have you distracted with that, they've been pumping out microplastics, pthalates and other forever chemicals, and injecting fracking compunds (which, legally, can be anything!) directly into the water table. You fell for a big ruse. Carbon dioxide is the least harmful thing out there. |

I'm not doing this to virtue signal and I am not larping. What I am doing is living my life in a frugal, environmentally responsible manner. I don't litter. I don't waste anything, especially food and water. But I have to be good to myself right now, and since I cannot drive, I had to position myself in a place that meets my needs. I realize there are things outside of my purview that will require me to adapt to, adjust to, or avoid entirely...but I'm willing to do that. |

And if I were to meet someone who is able to drive etc. I'd love a remote area but it's just not feasible for me right now. It's nice that at least one person understood "the driving force" of my decision. When you cannot drive anymore AND you have no family or friends in your area, your options narrow to the extreme. What I find the most interesting about my situation is that my 15-minute city decision came before the term 15-minute cities. The term makes perfect sense. It's well-named. |

Not everyone will be fortune enough to live, work and have exactly what they need within 15 mins. So transversing the boundaries will become a security checkpoint activity, just like every totalitarian regime has implemented in history. Totalitarianism tends to get worse over time. So while your happy now, just wait until the restrictions grow. You'll need mandatory nanoparticle injection to go to the supermarket soon. Good luck. |
