Did you know it snowed in July like 170 ish years ago in New England? The year without a summer. Supposedly caused by a distant volcano.

I live in NH. There's no smell of smoke outside. It is hazy though and the temps are unseasonably cool for this time of year.

I still have to get my tomatoes and peppers out but overnight temps have been continuously dipping down into the 40s. Oddly, we had a few days last week that were in the 80s, even lower 90s.

Since you are in New England/NH you are probably at a high enough elevation to escape this pollution. Lower valleys of NE are trapping this ionized mix of ash and god knows what other toxic pollution.

They are not really wild fires when they are being intentionally set.
But we do have forest fires every year. Never has the smoke traveled so far.
This is the first I've heard about the volcano in Mexico erupting.

Maybe it's the perfect storm, everything at once. Weird swirling Nor Easter near Nova Scotia, Pocapotetl volcano and "fires" in the north.

Yup, I concur. Southwest NH yesterday was hazy and smoky looking with orange sun all day, but no odor. Stupid chilly today but no more haze.
