My cousin's kid has autism, when she was younger it was so bad that she'd scream and throw fits if she saw balloons or stuffed animals in public. They brought her to a clinic that put her on some experimental diet, now a decade later she acts like a non-autistic person.

I kind of wonder if the kid maybe just had some food allergy and the new diet got rid of the allergen. Sometimes food allergies will show up in a child's behavior. Maybe the kid didn't have autism at all?
