Candyland was always my fave hf

I would be all about D&D but it's hard to find people that'll play.

So true. I have the civilization board game that I've played once. Can't get anyone to play that either, because one game is like 5 hours long between just two people. It was initially a novelty, you know because of the complexity of the video game franchise, but it's actually fun to play.

For those who are really into board games I would suggest watching Avgn's board James episodes where he goes into detail about many classic board games

Chess and monopoly are the only board games I play. Both of which have helped me in more ways than just entertainment.

I know this is a tabletop boardgame thread, I'm not trying to derail... just being friendly. If you like d&d and want to play it by yourself(or online with randos or friends) then I suggest baldur's gate 3, coming out fully in august. You'd also probably really like divinity original sin 2 (and 1).

There's a lot of really good topdown isometric games that use d&d ruleset and lore and stuff, but they are older and some people can't get over the graphics and just enjoy the game and their imagination, which is silly considering it's a lot better than graph paper dungeons. Haha. ( other similar recents are pilliars of eternity if you like a lot of fights and pathfinder series which has more tabletop type look to the map you move on and they all have a cute bonus storybook element randomly that acts like a choose your own adventure book type thing with a picture, choices)
Anyway... all the stuff from d&d is there like roles, inititiave, abilities, penalties, persuasions, buffs, gear, party personalities, alignments, stats etc etc.

Divinity original sin 2

You can play both of these split screen with other people, friends or random internet people from all over. I think bg3 will even let you play with people cross platform. Right now, early release is only on pc.

Bg3 has a mechanic where if you're playing with another person and you disagree on which dialog option to choose, it goes into a minigame of rock paper scissors to see who wins and gets to make the choice of what to say or action to perform.

Ok. Sorry y'all, I just really like d&d too but like the poster said it's hard to get a group together that can always be together and even if you do, one fight can take like 3 hours. Haha.

Board game I really liked as a kid was risk until we upgraded to axis and allies. I was devastating with the planes and stuff. MUAHAHA.

Anyway, enjoy your cool fun games that make you think and read, fellow nerds...especially the cool d&d liking person.

Ps... to make it more about the tabletop game as per op...

In the promos you can see a pack of magic the gathering cards with a character from baldur's gate series on it, indicating they are going to release tabletops in conjunction with this game. It's a 'miniaturized giant space hamster' that a beloved bg character named minsc keeps as his pet, named 'boo' who likes to 'go for the eyes' and minsc is the character at the end of that video I posted crawling out of that treasure chest with teeth with the red shit on his face.

Re: A Board Gamers gathering place, where all Board Gamers can talk game in a safe supportive environment.
Hey ( sorry y'all) ...

Btw... divinity and bg3 are fully narrated and voice acted... every character you talk to and mostly to awesome e/a ffect... and likely better than any DM or group of friends could do. (Though some of those people probably nerd out in real life with thier friends using voices and stuff or did before). A tabletop game with some of them would be awesome. Maybe try to convince some of your more creative and or dramatic friends that like plays or movies and stuff to play with you and convince them to really get into the role and ham it up a bit for funsies.

Ok, again... sorry if anyone is mad about my computer game mentions - but they ARE ones based on tabletops... and I know older people would probably overlook them because they don't think they could be sophisticated or whatever. Trust me... they are REALLY fun, and very nerdy and you can micromanage the hell out of them too if that's your thing.

Goodnight. I'll shut up now...

IF you cast a silence spell or scroll and it hits. Haha. J/K

Bye.

PS... no I don't work at any of them nor do I get anything for spreading it around (lol requisite glp shill comment defense) other than the hope that other like minded nerds will enjoy them as much as I do or at least give them a chance...especially particular d&d mentioning person whom posted.

I need to look into D&D as it seems so highly addictive, I even remember in the late 80's going to a D&D convention in Melb here (but just as a tag along with a friend gamer) hf

Baldurs Gate rings a bell. Think I played 1 or 2 on the PS2 or N64. And now I realize how old I am chuckle online play
wasn't at the status it is now.

Can we get an Epic Edition of Candyland though? Hf
