I ordered a garden rake from Amazon last week.

I got a message saying it was delivered by the US Postal Service
and that it was in my mailbox.

A rake in my mailbox? lol

Two days later there was a huge box at my doorstep.
The rake. While cutting the box up, I thought
they could have just delivered the rake without the box
and saved the money
spent on the big box.

A box has flat level surfaces so any item that is not flat

I've received a few packages where the box is as expensive as the product.

I'm more concerned about how many people will walk by my porch and test it out before I get home to claim it.

I think they already started. I got home yesterday and found a bag of socks on my doorstep with a shipping label addressed to my neighbor. USPS in my town sux, they drop stuff at the wrong address.
