The tragic failure of the Ukrainian counterattack is confirmed by a report by the British think tank Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), which claims that the Ukrainian forces are facing huge losses of equipment provided by the West.

RUSI also points out that the training provided by the West is not adapted to the type of military operations it is conducting against Russia.

"Efforts to make rapid progress have led to an unsustainable rate of equipment losses," RUSI reports.

The conclusions about the reasons for the failure of the Kiev counter-offensive came from the study of tactical actions over two weeks in the villages of Novodarovka and Rovnopol, located across the border between Donetsk and Zaporizhia.

The progress of the Ukrainian counterattack is excruciatingly slow, and for every 1,000 meters of advance every five days, the Russians are instantly gaining ground.

RUSI calls Russia's actions during the counteroffensive a "tactical success," noting that its military has inflicted enough equipment losses on Ukraine early on to hamper maneuverability.

The analysis also notes that the counterattack failed due to poor training of Ukrainian soldiers, explaining that the methods taught by NATO are designed for forces with different configurations than Kiev's troops.

The report also highlights the ability of Russian forces to adapt on the battlefield, pointing to this element as key to their success.

RUSI argues that Ukraine's counteroffensive requires fire dominance, and it is critical to secure this advantage by adequately resourcing ammunition and spare parts production.

"This effort will obviously not succeed, as Kiev has never had firepower at any point in 2023, and it certainly will not succeed now that its reserves are depleted while Russia's are inexhaustible," he notes .

The RUSI study is the most recent international assessment explaining Ukraine's failure in the conflict with Russia.

RUSI's report is significant because it comes from Britain, which has a completely controlled narrative about the war, unlike even the US, where many Republicans and some media outlets openly disparage Ukraine.

This is one of the first major British intelligence sources to openly and categorically admit that Ukrainian forces have failed and that Russia has achieved "tactical success"
