Next gen engines First stage compressor has much larger fans so the engine has to be forward and higher on the wing for ground clearance. The Boeing 737 Max is a good example of this, the body was not re-engineered but the engine is much larger so they had to fit it on the wing as best they could.

Next gen engines First stage compressor has much larger fans so the engine has to be forward and higher on the wing for ground clearance. The Boeing 737 Max is a good example of this, the body was not re-engineered but the engine is much larger so they had to fit it on the wing as best they could.

Take a google look at 737 family of planes and you will see how low the engines are and then look at a picture of the 737 Max and you will see how they lifted it higher and forward on the wing
