I knew a tard up here who worked for ford and got pensioned out 30 years ago for literally turning screws. He was making, with benefits and pension, over 90k 30 years ago . Totally overpaid Moran. Business can't sustain themselves with those prices for unskilled labour that a monkey or 7 year old could be trained to do. |

Overgoverned User ID: 86143951 ![]() 09/17/2023 04:54 AM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | $300,000 a year. That's pushing $6000 a week. Four-day week, that'd be $1500/day. Close to $200/hour, assuming it's an eight-hour day. But then again, some workers get paid to stay home (depending on 100 or so little rules that are part of the contract). Henry had the bright idea of paying his people $5 a day, which, at the time, was serious bucks. But I don't think it was quite as serious bucks as $1500 a day would be today. Part of Henry's motivation was to motivate them to come to work every day. "$5 is $5, can't pass that up that kind o' money." I don't know if the same rule applies today. If I made $1500 in one day, I'd be set for a couple of years. But I think I'm sufficiently greedy that I'd want to work 500 days a year for that kind of money. Another part of Henry's thinking was that he wanted his people to be able to AFFORD to buy the cars they assembled. Looking at it through that prism, UAW members would be one of the few who'd be able to afford today's new cars. Even though Henry was paying the workers a stratospheric wage, it worked out pretty well for him. |

Worked on a road construction job and broke a spreader. Had to wait for 3 hours for the "union" maintenance workers to come out and fix it. Just a chain off the sprocket. Screw driver and a cresent would have fixed it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 86310690 ![]() 09/17/2023 06:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If this goes through make sure to NEVER buy an American vehicle, EVER! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47673275 TOYOTA Last American car I bought was a Pinto. (I know, I know) 2 camshafts, and I swore off FORD forever, luckily I was introduced to a Toyota, and my experience with them over the years has been A BLESSING. (When I was a kid that's all I had were Fords, because my old man was a "FORD ONLY" kind of guy) Toyota's engineers and workers put Americans to shame. And they stand behind their work, and actually FIX problems, so that they aren't PERPETUAL. Ford DID pay for the first camshaft, but only offered to pay HALF for the second. What a piece of crap! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 51484552 ![]() 09/17/2023 06:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | why are people so ignorant about inflation. INFLATION HAS CLEAR AND SINGLE CAUSE! it's the interest owed on the money borrowed by the government for the usage of the product called currency. how do you pay back interest when borrowing currency? you borrow more currency AKA inflation! it's that freaking simple. |
