USDA Issues Public Health Alert for SPAM Meat
The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for canned SPAM.

Hormel Foods Corp. Services LLC, the producer of the affected SPAM, informed the USDA that they had inadvertently shipped products that may not have been adequately processed.

The issue came to light when the firm itself reported the lapse in quality control, raising concerns about the effectiveness of internal monitoring systems. The affected SPAM was primarily stocked by H.E.B. in Texas, and as of now, no other retailers appear to have been impacted.

The SPAM in question was produced on August 17 and has a best-by date of August 2026. The lot code for the affected product is A08173, which is printed on the bottom of the cans. Additionally, the product bears the establishment number “EST. 199” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Tell the Hawaii implants since all real native Hawaiians are extinct! they're the only ones who eat that processed garbage.

not even any feral cat colonies will even come close when they smell that, starving or not it is just not food to them or us

Re: USDA Issues Public Health Alert for SPAM Meat
Growing up, my family ate a lot of spam, we kept cases of it with no problem.

In 2020 when most people were stashing disaster supplies, I decided to buy 6 cases of spam to keep on hand remembering how well it stored up as a kid.

It was kept in my pantry on the floor in my air-conditioned house away from sunlight.

2 months later I needed to move it to clean the pantry, on inspection almost 2 dozen cans had swollen and begun leaking.

No idea what they did to spam but it's definitely nothing like we had growing up that would last a year or more on the shelf with no problem.

I won't even buy it now as it is not trustworthy as a survival long term storage food.
