Bong Wie is an aerospace engineering professor and director of the new center. He said the effort was approved last month by ISU's Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost. Wie said the asteroid research center will host an International Symposium on Asteroid Deflection Technology this fall. Scientists said there currently is no immediate threat from an asteroid strike. However, they said evidence suggests it's important to research preventive measures. Wie said the technologies the ISU center will develop include precision orbital guidance and navigation. vaccinefreehealth blogspot com
